An almost weekly assortment of musical oddities purchased or given to POF:
ASSHOLEPARADE – Say Goodbye 7” (no idea) 3rd pressing, blue vinyl, lyrics on inside of sleeve. Fourteen hardcore cuts in about 13 minutes by Florida’s underground thrash veterans.
MATT & KIM – To/From 10” (team science) ltd to 1000
THANK YOU – terrible two LP + mp3 (thrill jockey) – Previously, I only had the album on mp3, so I bought the vinyl at the show on Thursday. It is always good to support a band when they are touring.
TRUE WIDOW – S/T Dbl LP (end sounds) – Dallas local shoegaze-psych rock trio finally release their debut album on 180 gram double vinyl. First pressing limited to 500 copies.
TYVJK – FAST Metabolism (self) – Detroit lo-fi garage-punk trio tear through 11 raw and catchy tracks in less than 30 minutes. Tyvjk’s lyrics are clever, even intelligence and their song structure, including the quality of the recording, make them unique among the current roster of Detroit garage acts. The actual sound shuffles between the Coachwhips, Brimstone Howl to Dead Milkmen. Any irony in a song called “Honda” when you are from Detroit?
WAVVES – Wavvves (fat possum) – I have the woodist LP version, so I am not sure if this has the same songs.
YEAR FUTURE – Strictly Ampersands LP (coalition) – One sided 12” with four songs from defunct band by GSL founder Sonny Kay. The B-side features an etching, which is also silkscreened on the album cover. Only 500 copies pressed by Dutch label, Coalition.
V/A – SHIFTLESS DECAY: New Sounds of Detroit LP (x!) Local compilation features a dozen artists from the dying Motor City. The tracks were recorded between 2005 and 2009.
