One of our long-time favorite comedians to bring through town is the taco-bell hating personality: NEIL HAMBURGER. This time he is touring with singer-song writer Alvarius B.
America’s Funnyman Neil Hamburger is the hardest working comedian in existence, performing up to 399 shows a year internationally to critical acclaim and audience bewilderment. He’s toured as the hand-picked opener for Tenacious D, Tim & Eric, and Faith No More, and his TV credits include Fox News’ Red Eye, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Tom Green Live, and Jimmy Kimmel Live. On his 2011 UK tour Neil played to packed houses at the Edinburgh Fringe and completed a 10-show stint at London’s Soho Theatre. His most recent album “Live At Third Man” was produced by Jack White in Nashville; an earlier Hamburger album was among SPIN’s “40 Greatest Comedy Albums Of All Time.”
Alvarius B. is the solo acoustic guitar/singer-songwriter alias of Alan Bishop, a major player/seminal figure of the American underground with roots stretching back to the West Coast hardcore punk scene of the early 1980s. As a founding member of Sun City Girls (along with his brother Richard Bishop) and the Sublime Frequencies record label, Bishop has performed on and/or produced many critically acclaimed recordings over three decades. Alvarius B has released four full-length albums since 1994 with material ranging from outsider primitive folk guitar excursions to original and cover songs with caustic lyrics drenched in razor sharp wit. His music has been described by critics in a wide variety of terms – one example: “Weirdo psychedelic cabaret folk music, somewhere between Tom Waits, Nick Cave, and show tunes.” (Aquarius Music/San Francisco)
