GOGOGO AIRHEARTExith Exua (gsl)

JAPANDROIDSPost-Nothing (polyvinyl) – I received an advance for this back in April, but as I mentioned the other day, the album is now being released by Polyvinyl in August. Post-Nothing, from the first song about boys, “The Boys Are Leaving Town”, to the final song about girls, “I Quit Girls”, is a highly addictive and catchy eight song album about life, relationships and overall ‘rockin’. Post-Nothing is the follow-up to the duo’s two Eps: Lullaby Death Jams and All Lies. Japandroids will be playing in Dallas at The Cavern on October 13th with The Coathangers.

JAYDIOHEAD – The Encore (?) – Free DOWNLOAD.

LORDS/IN TONGUESSplit EP 7″ (hyperrealist) – “Lemon-yellow swirl” vinyl, lyrics on inside.

MELT-BANANASpeak Squeak Creak (a-zap)

PRIDESWALLOWERLifeswallower EP 7″ (brightskull) – Double-side silkscreened tri-fold sleeve with lyrics.

SILVER SHAMPOOS/T 7″ (what’s your rupture) – Four song biker inspired garage by members of Wax Museums and Bad Sports

TALBOT TAGORAS/T 7″ (self) – Self-released seven inch with silkscreen artwork and lyrics on backside.

TALBOT TAGORA Lessons in the woods or a city. (hardly art) – Fold-out poster with lyrics. My friend’s summation on this album was “Sonic Youth meets Arab on Radar, ten years too late”, which I felt was unfair assessment for a young trio. After my first listen, I found Lessons in the woods or a city. is a straightforward and an uncomplicated album, easy to dive into, very sinister and fun.

TRAP THEMSeance Prime 7″ (deathwish) – Purple with Black splatter, lyrics on inside of sleeve. Comes with digital d/l.

UUVVWWWZUuvvwwz (saddle creek) – Confusing to read, easy to pronounce, “Double U, Double V, Double W, Z”. Uuvvwwz is the nine-song debut from ‘avant-rock and blues’ quartet of the same name. Rock with a swagger! Unique guitar styling and an assortment sleazy beats, yet manages not to shift towards experimental, although portions of Uuvvwwz could be lumped into that genre. Teal Gardner’s commanding voice and chilling tone on the songs “Berry Can”, “Neolaño” and “The Sun”, produce a dramatic seedy lounge impression on an otherwise rich and boisterous album. UUVVWWZ sound like nothing else out right now, maybe a hint of Morningwood on the song “Shark Suit”, but no need in coping out on a ‘band-to-band’ comparison for something that will establish itself on its own merits.

V/A – The WORLD’S LOUSY WITH IDEAS Vol. 8 12″ (almost ready) – LP features tracks from Vivian Girls, Times New Viking, Intelligence, Sic Alps, Thee Oh Sees, Tyvek and a few others.

XBXRXLove Songs for the Blind (anal log)

YOUNG WIDOWSOld Wounds 12″ (temporary residency/shirt killer) – Third pressing, limited to 100 copies on Strawberry and Blue vinyl exclusively through Shirt Killer mail-order.

Bootlegs – Chris Magee was nice enough to hook me up with audio recordings of Ty Segall and Charlie & The Moonhearts from Club Dada last month. He was also hooked me up with …Trail of Dead’s set from Good Records from February.
