Due to the amount of spill-over from Psyche fest, I hustled to successfully combine two different tours for a 4-band-bill, exclusive to Dallas, at the historic Sons of Hermann Hall on April 29th, 2011.
Set to headline this unique show is Florida stoner doom trio, sometimes quartet, FLOOR, featuring Steve Brooks, lead singer of TORCHE.
Ultra score with legendary UK musician SPECTRUM aka SONIC BOOM of Spacemen-3, E.A.R. (Experimental Audio Research) and most recently responsible for producing the latest MGMT album. PERFORMING WITH A FULL BAND. Joining SPECTRUM for a select number of show is Australian Psychedelic rock duo, The BLACK RYDER (mexican summer), who recently came through opening for The CULT.

bio:
Spectrum is the most song based of the projects undertaken by Pete ‘Sonic Boom’ Kember since the demise of Spacemen 3, which he co-founded with Jason Pierce in the ’80’s . Spectrum cover a variety of approaches though never losing sight of the hypnotic drones and psychedelic soundscapes that are his music’s trademark.
The band has a knack for manipulating their instruments into hypnotic, sensual and stimulating patterns, alternately lulling us into a trance-like state and diving down into the wah, feedback & fuzzed frenzy of their powerchord epics.
Sonic boom once sited ‘three chords good ,two chords better , one chord best’ – and has consistently wrought an array of moods & sounds based on this principle.
The first three Spectrum albums (Sonic Boom-Spectrum, Highs, Lows & Heavenly Blows, Soul Kiss (Glide Divine) are due for reissue during 2011 and some of this material will feature in the touring this year and in 2012. Featuring alongside material from the recent War Sucks EP and Spectrum’s last collaborative album with the late Jim Dickinson (2008’s Indian Giver), as well as a shifting look through the Spacemen 3 catalogue.
Best known for his projects including Spacemen 3 & Experimental Audio Research , Some people might know elements of Sonic boom’s work through some of the myriad collaborations over the last two decades with an array of artists including , the Silver Apples, Kevin Shields (MBV), Stereolab, Eddie Prevost( AMM), Delia Derbyshire (Radiophonic Workshop,) ,Psychic ills, Dean Wareham (Galaxie 500) , Jessamine , Stylus, James Luther Dickinson & Magnetophone .
Most recently Kember co-produced MGMT’s ‘Congratulations’ long player and has mixed & recorded the forthcoming ‘Tomboy’ album with Panda Bear.
