Grimes – “Oblivion” [via Gorilla vs Bear]
Even though I’m not at CMJ (SXSW is better though, am I right?) for Gorilla vs Bear’s CMJ party, I can still appreciate this latest beat-dominant tune from Grimes. It’s so catchy and fun, I’m probably going to play it on repeat all week. [via Gorilla vs Bear]
Small Black – “Moon Killer” / [via Stereogum]
In last week’s “Parade of Flesh presents…” newsletter, we mentioned Small Black’s track (http://www.thefader.com/2011/10/10/small-black-f-heems-two-rivers-mp3/) with Heems of Das Racist, who are playing Dallas this week (info here)! (What? You have no idea what I’m talking about? Hurry up and email cyu[at]paradeofflesh[dot]com to subscribe to our very informative newsletter so you don’t miss anything else!) Well, the Bro Fest alums, Small Black have given us yet another, equally jammin’ track entitiled “Moon Killer” from their forthcoming mixtape of the same name.
Chairlift – “Sidewalk Safari” / [via Stereogum]
You know how stores put up their holiday merchandise super early? You walk in to the store a little shocked that people are thinking about all this stuff already, but you leave looking forward to December? Between “Sidewalk Safari” and Chairlift’s video for Amanaemonesia from September, I definitely feel a little like that. I cannot wait to hear the rest of their upcoming record Something, which won’t be out until next year (1/24).
TI feat. Pharrell – “Hear Ye, Hear Ye” / [via Fader]
There’s just a certain grandness to this new TI track. And, say what you will about N.E.R.D.’s last couple of releases, but Pharrell and his rapping are always on point.
King Khan and the Shrines – “I Got Love” [via Scion A/V Garage]
Anything by King Khan basically guarantees a good music time, and this song does not disappoint. With that kind of energy and throwback feel how can you listen to a King Khan song and not want to move?
