New stuff since the last time . . .
The HEX DISPENSERS – One Less Ghost/I’m A Ghost 7″ (trouble in mind) – Austin garage band on Chicago imprint which has goods out by The Fresh & Onlys, Ty Segall, White Wires and more. Look for a solo 7″ by lead singer Alex Cuervo in late March.
JACUZZI BOYS, JEFF The BROTHERHOOD and NO BUNNY – Live at Third Man 12″ (third man) – Three different releases all recorded this past year at Third Man Records; part of the “Third Man Live” series. Mailorder restricted to black vinyl, but blue/white vinyl only available at the store in Nashville. The Jeff The Brotherhood release features a few new tracks. JEFF The Brotherhood playing Bro Fest 2011 in March.
LE BUTCHERETTES – “Henry Don’t Got Love” (self) – Rising trio who just announced a may/june tour with Deftones and The Dillinger Espcape Plan and will now have Gabe Serbian of The Locust on drums. Download new single here by giving up an email.
ROBOTANISTS – Plans in Progress (overhead) – All lot of people are loving this, and I can totally see why; and not just because they have a snippet of a song in an episode of Jersey Shore, but because of the female singer’s dramatic voice and dreamy accompanying soundtrack. I could totally see myself getting laid by playing this in the car on a date. I think this is filed under adult indie-pop rock. Download the suicide driven MP3 of “ON/OFF The Ledge“.
SIC ALPS – Napa Asylum (drag city) – Sic Alps love releasing double-albums at least it’s killer and no filler.
The STRANGE BOYS/NATURAL CHILD – Split (scion) – I assume this will come out on 7″; for now it is free digitally from Scion featuring an unusual new song, almost mix-tape-like song “American Radio” by The Strange Boys. Download here.
TRÉS BIEN – The Weather on Milk Mountain (self) – High production for a drug-fueled power-pop band from Florida; pretty awesome and they sound like a blast live!
