An almost weekly assortment of musical oddities purchased by or given to POF.

BAD VEINSGold and Warm 7″ (black iris) – The song title sounds like this track would be about urine, but it’s not. Die-cut sleeve. Mp3 of “Gold and Warm” from Black Iris Collective.

BEASTIE BOYSDoublecheck Your Head (self) – Max Tannone, who recently released Jaydiohead has his newest project available for download or stream here. Although I am anti-mash ups, I did find this interesting, since it was Beastie Boys being melded with their own instrumentations.

DESTROYERBay of Pigs EP 12″ (merge) – Two-song, vinyl only EP. 1,000 pressed. Comes with d/l. “Bay of Pigs” clocks in at 13 and a half minutes and “Ravers” on the B-Side is about 8 minutes in length.

MARIACHI EL BRONX – S/T (swami) – Los Angeles punk act The Bronx, release a purely Tejano album with English lyrics, under the name “Mariachi El Bronx”. This a huge departure if you are expecting The Bronx; and doesn’t even compare to their side-project, The DRIPS. Full stream here. Order yours with the Barrio Sweat Cologne bonus.

SIC ALPSL. Mansion 7″ (slumberland) – Pink vinyl. The B-side features a cover of the stoner Donovan tune “Superlungs (My Supergirl)”. Here is the upbeat, lo-fi track: “L. Mansion” mp3 from Slumberland Records.

SLEEPY SUNSleepy Son 10″ (atp recordings) – Orange/Black 10″, with the B-Side “Sandstorm Woman”.

TYVEKMary Ellen Claims 7″ (x!) – Re-press; 300 White and 500 black.

VIVIAN GIRLSLive on the Radio: WFMU, 9/1/2008 (troubleman unlimited) – Initially self-released as a cdr, this live performance gets a proper vinyl issue with silkscreened covers. Limited to 1,000 copies. (100 with alternate artwork)
